Leicester Young Professionals marked the launch of its eighth year, brand new committee, new website and the first in an exciting line-up of events, with an omelette challenge.
The Boot Room in Millstone Lane opened it doors to welcome the Leicester Young Professionals to a breakfast meeting with a twist. Head Chef Stephen Fitzpatrick gave a demonstration on how to make the perfect omelette before three “volunteers” went head to head to produce their own breakfast omelette. Though lacking the skill and expertise of a real chef the three contestants made an admirable attempt with Stephen judging Michael Goodchild, of Pegasus Land in Market Harborough, to be the winner of the first prize, a £50 voucher for the Boot Room. Rachel Priestley of Torr Waterfield clinched 2nd place with Verinder Dharna of Cartwright King coming in 3rd.
Commenting on the contestants Stephen said, “I was quite impressed with their enthusiasm and thought they coped well with the task against the clock. I look forward to seeing them again though I expect to be doing the cooking next time.”
After the meeting, LYP President, Harvey Ingram's Kate Godber said “our events are all about meeting and networking with new people whilst having fun at the same time so I am pleased that we had a great turnout and our members enjoyed the showcase. We want to include more interactive competitions at our meetings so any fun ideas will be welcomed.”
